Security camera installation across Lake City and Columbia County has to fit the kind of property found here: acreage, outbuildings, long driveways and a gate a long way from the house.

Four cameras, each with its coverage shaded, cover the drive just inside the gate, the drive near the house, the yard in front of the shop and the barn front. A buried cable runs from the house to the shop and down the drive to the gate camera. A creek runs between the house and the barn, so a wireless link, in gold, crosses it to the barn. A key names the camera, the camera coverage, the wireless link radio and the buried cable. Security camera installation across Columbia County

The business is based in Lake City and was incorporated in Florida in September 2018. Donnie, the owner, quotes every job and leads every install. The main benefit of being local comes later: when something needs adjusting six months after the install, the business is close by. The Lake City service area page lists the towns we cover from Lake City.

Planning cameras for Columbia County land with several buildings

Most jobs here involve more than one building, spread farther apart than a typical camera system is set up for: a house, a shop, a barn, a gate at the end of a two hundred foot drive. Donnie plans the cameras around the whole layout, not just the house. A camera on a far building only works as well as the connection that reaches it.

How trees affect camera placement and wireless links

Pine and oak trees decide where cameras and wireless links can go. They affect what a camera can see, they affect lighting at night, and they decide whether a wireless link between two buildings will work at all. Planning around them takes someone who has worked on land around here. Branches moving in the wind are a common cause of alerts that go off all afternoon. On a camera aimed past a tree line, the trees can be left out of the area that sets off alerts, or the camera can be set to alert only on people and vehicles.

Why Lake City properties often need better internet before cameras

Reliable internet isn’t a given on Columbia County land, and cameras need it to send alerts and let you watch from your phone. On plenty of Lake City properties the order is: internet to the property first, then Wi-Fi across the property, then the cameras. That’s why a camera job here often turns into a conversation about Starlink and Wi-Fi that covers the whole property, and why it’s better to have that conversation before buying cameras than after.

Questions about security cameras in Lake City

(386) 243-9535

Donnie answers the phone Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm.

Can you cover a barn or a shop that’s a long way from the house?

Yes, and that’s the common job here. The buildings get connected first: a buried cable where one can be run, and where it can’t, a point-to-point wireless link, which is a radio on each building aimed at the other. Once a building is too far for Wi-Fi to reach, a stronger Wi-Fi signal won’t fix it.

My internet isn’t reliable. Will cameras even work?

Yes, they’ll still record if the footage is stored at the property, on a recorder or a memory card in the camera. When the internet goes down, alerts stop, and so does watching from your phone while you’re away. That’s why, on a lot of properties out here, fixing the internet is still the first job.

Can I watch the cameras from my phone on Starlink?

Usually, through the camera maker’s app. Older camera systems let you connect to them directly while you’re away from home. Starlink’s residential plans don’t allow that kind of connection, so you watch through the maker’s app instead. Recording at the property also means the video doesn’t have to be sent out over Starlink, which sends data out at only a fraction of the speed it brings data in.

Do I need a contract?

No. You own the system.

Tell us about the property. We’ll give you a quote or explain what else we need.
