A Starlink installer for Valdosta and Lowndes County, plus Wi-Fi and cameras

Lowndes County has been building fiber internet out to rural roads that never had a fast wired connection, so the first question here is whether it has reached your address. Where it hasn’t, Starlink is often the practical choice. Either way, the internet comes into one spot in the house, and getting it out to the shop, the barn or the dock is work we do too. Donnie, the owner, quotes every job and leads every install.

Lowndes County’s rural fiber build, and where Starlink still fits

In 2024 the county, a fiber internet provider and Colquitt EMC, the local electric co-op, started building fiber to homes and businesses that had slow internet or none. As of July 2025, the provider reported the build more than 60 percent done, with 8,900 locations able to connect, and the state contract says the last ones must be connected in 2026. So check your address before you order a dish. If fiber isn’t coming to your road, that’s where professional Starlink installation comes in.

Wi-Fi and cameras for lake homes around Lake Park

About 13 miles southeast of Valdosta, Lake Park is named for the natural lakes around it. Ocean Pond and Long Pond, roughly 300 acres each, sit inside its city limits. On a lake lot, the dock and the boathouse are often the farthest spots from the router, and they’re where people want Wi-Fi and a camera. Open water suits a wireless link, because the antennas on each end need a clear view of each other and there are no trees in the way.

Starlink dishes and cameras after Hurricane Helene

Helene cut power to 99 percent of Lowndes County in September 2024, mostly by bringing down trees and power lines. A lot of yards have a different tree line now. A dish placed to fit the old gaps in the trees may no longer sit in the best spot, and a camera that used to be in shade may now look straight into the low sun. Moving or remounting either one is work we do, including on a dish or a camera someone else installed.

Getting internet from the house to the shop, barn or dock

Fiber and Starlink both stop at one spot in the house. From there, whole home and property Wi-Fi carries the signal through the house and out to other buildings, with mesh units (extra Wi-Fi units that pass the signal along) or a buried network cable of up to about 328 feet. For a building farther out, or across ground you can’t dig, point-to-point wireless aims two antennas at each other. The longest link so far ran three quarters of a mile across a lake.

On the left, a house with a flat Starlink dish on its roof, where the connection comes in, under an open view of the sky drawn as two dashed lines opening upward from the dish. A cable runs from the dish down to the router inside. Gold shows the router's Wi-Fi around the house, fading out partway across the yard. The shop and the barn on the right sit past it, each with an empty dashed outline where a Wi-Fi unit of its own would go. Questions about service in Valdosta and Lowndes County

(386) 243-9535

Donnie answers the phone Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm.

Should I wait for county fiber or get Starlink now?

Check first. Put your address into the FCC’s National Broadband Map, which shows the providers that report service there, and ask the county’s fiber provider whether your road is in the build. If fiber is coming soon, waiting may make sense. If it isn’t, call and we’ll talk through Starlink for your property.

Hurricane Helene took down trees near my Starlink dish. Should the dish move?

Maybe. Run the obstruction check in the Starlink app. It shows whether trees block the dish’s view of the sky from where it sits now. If the dish itself was damaged, that claim goes through your Starlink account. Moving or remounting it is work we do.

Can you get Wi-Fi and a camera out to my dock?

Usually. It depends on how far the dock is from the house and whether there’s power out there. A camera needs power even when it sends its video over Wi-Fi, so the plan covers both.

Is there a travel charge?

If the drive adds any cost, it’s included in your quote.
